Women’s rights in Islam? Enough talk! Walk the walk.

Someday, I will put into words what Muslim women like myself agitate for when we clamor for the rights of women in our community. But that’s not today!
I don’t know this Sheikh, his beliefs, nor hold any allegiance to whatever he might have said in the past, or will say in the future – so do not come for me on anything other than this opinion I am posting because it’s about time that men in scholarly Muslim circles begin to say something.
As long as we’re talking, questioning the status quo, change is possible. Here’s to hoping!

I could say a lot about this video – that I’ve been waiting for someone like him to say something like this for longer than I care to recall. That it’s an overdue wake-up call to the Ummah, especially those of us in the West…but I’ll let the Shaykh do the talking.
